Open to Boys and Girls Aged : 10½ to 14
This Scout section is based on Adventurous Activities, and is one of the most popular nights at the centre. If your child is unlikley to enjoy such activities,or go on camps and on outdoor activities, then this night is not for them.
Patrol
Leaders Knowledge
- Demonstraight 6 Knots
- Show two lashings
- Undertaken 2 Scouts Camps under canvas in the year, one of these must have been in either Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar.
- Attended the 1PSC regular over 8 weeks which includes holiday openings when possible
- Have been on a Cycling ride or hike with Skip in the past 12 months
- Cooked a healthy meal for four Scouts using fresh ingredients either on a Trangia or single burner
- Completed Axe work training and can demonstrate safe axe work
- Demonstrate they have within one month kept the Scout Law
- Know the Scout promise
- Made a mini pioneering model at home from Garden canes and brought into the centre
- Has not been in trouble for bad behaviour at Scouts for the past eight weeks
- Must have been a member of the Scouting Association for at least 12 months in any section
- Complete two Risk Assessment for any activity at 1PSC
- Do a route card for a 5 to 10 mile hike
- Demonstrate how to pitch a tent and then pack it away
- Two Scouts in the section must support your application for promotion
- Must have introduced a newcomer to Scouts within the past 12 months
Assitant Patrol Leaders Knowledge
- Demonstraight 4 Scout knots
- Have been on two camps within the past year
- Completed Axe work training
- Has not been in trouble for bad behaviour at Scouts
- Must have been a member at 1PSC for at least twelve months, at any section
- Complete a risk assessment for tent erecting on camp
- Attend regular scout nights
The final decision for promotion is down to Skip, you will only be appointed if there's a position available and you are suitable.
