Thane Rover Scouts

This is small group of experienced Scoutmasters most of whom were sworn in as Rover Scouts many years ago. Though Rover Scouts are no longer recognized by the Scout Association they were never officially disbanded as Rover Scouts back in the 1950's as they were sworn in for life.

Thane Rovers meet weekly in one of the few remaining Rover Den'sin the UK which itself has lots of colourefull history to it. The recently refurbished den had a visit from Michael Baden Powell who currently lives in Australia.

The Crew isn't a set of old wrinklies meeting up each week. We are an active crew at the service of Scout Groups locally plus throughout the UK we even spread our wings to Europe and the good old USA. Some of the Thane crew can often be seen helping out at Gilwell the Scouting Association HQ, London when needed. They can offer all traditional Scouting skills to leaders for either personal development or directly pass on the knowledge to Scouts, all are UK CRB cleared to work with young people. What's more it's generally for free.

If you'd like "Back to good old Scouting" for your Scouts such as pioneering projects, knot work, Scouting History, fire lighting, flag etiquette, use of staffs, whittling skills, safe knife and axe work or even be shown how to erect a Camp gates for that special event then please get in touch.

All of the current Rover Crew are either current Scoutmasters, Commissioners or past Commissioners within the Scout Association so we have aproven track record and knowledge waiting to pass it on.
