Latest News 29/7/10: Hello Parents & Scouts

It should be early next week when I have all the information about Canada 2011 expedition back and when a letter will be sent out to all Scouts on the Canada list.

So what's the delay? I'm having problems with the accommodation availability on Camp Samac, at the moment there's a South African Scout district wanting to use Camp Samac at the same time as us. I spoke to Camp Samac last night (afternoon their time) they are really keen for us to stay with them and trying to sort out accommodation to suit our needs. Hopefully it could be as early as today when I get a phone call for the Camp Samac with their proposal.

The dates I'm looking at are 5 to 13 August 2011 for 8 nights
As an alternative it could be: 29th July to 6 August (All dates subject to change at this final stage)

I have most of the other information back ready to book trips, coaches, insurance, and local guides once the camp gets back to me. If both dates are not suitable to Camp Samac I do have a choice of several other Scouts camps in Ontario but not as handy for commuting. They too are chomping at the bit for me to book with them instead.

Here's a picture of our proposed Accomadation Block on Camp Samac. This month they've seen on camp: Deer, Wild Turkey, cayote's, raccoons, squirrels and chipmunks in the woods, no bears I promise (fingers crossed lol)

LATEST NEWS: The girls dorm is now full, taking names in case of cancellations. The larger Boys Dorm still has beds free.

BAG PACKING- Morrisons Pontefract, 25th September 2010. The longer you bag pack the more you earn!

This expedition is open to all Scouts age 10+ in 2011 Expedition Leader: Mr J Fisher (Skip)

At long last, under pressure from you the parents here are some tentative plans for Canada 2011, Scouts must be age 10+ on day of departure. It's estimated the cost of this amazing expedition will be around £899 for the 7 to 10 day expedition in August 2011. The dates will be finalised once we can book the flights & accomadation hopefully at the end of August.

The cost will include return flights to Toronto, full board, indoor bunked accommodation at hopefully Samac Scout camp an hour from Toronto. The Scouts will visit Niagara Falls and go on the world famous "Maid of the Mist". A day out in Toronto will include trip up the CN Tower and hopefully take in a Blue Jays baseball game, plus lots of other activities, a chance in a life time for most.

I appreciate it will stretch many family budgets, so to help out I've decided to launch the expedition early, nearly two years before we plan to go. Hopefully by doing so it will help take the sting out of the camp and give more Scouts the chance to go and experience Canada in 2011

I will require a £50 returnable deposit, plus regular monthly payments. Once the final costings have been sorted, I will let you know via the web page or letter. At this stage you will have a week to return the official booking form to ensure you've secured a place for this amazing expedition. All monies paid at this point will become non-returnable. If, at this point, your Scout cannot attend this expedition, money paid so far will be returned to you via cheque.

For those Scouts who are lucky enough to know now that they intend to go, you can now start to make regular monthly payments to 1PSC. We'd encourage a Standing order be set up with the group asap to ensure regular payments are made and on time, this will be separate from the monthly subscriptions you pay for your Scout membership. Details will be posted on 1PSC web page when we can.

Don't delay, start saving up and get your deposits in before I put a stop on Scouts
